Laying Vinyl Floor Tiles

Vinyl Tiles Laying vinyl floor tiles that have been pre-coated with adhesive can be quick and simple.

Stack the tiles in the room 24 hours before laying them so they can become acclimatized.

Start in the centre of the room. Draw a line from the centre of the wall at one end of the room to the centre of the wall at the other end of the room and do the same with the width. You will have a cross and the corners of four tiles will meet at the centre.

Remove the protective paper backing from the first tile and press its edge against the guide line with the corner flush with the centre of the room. Gradually lower the tile onto the floor and press it down.

Lay the next tile on the other side of the line butting against the first tile. Form a square with two more tiles. Lay tiles around the square to form a pyramid. Continue in this way to fill one half of the room.

You will have to cut the tiles to fit the gaps next to the skirting. Lay a loose tile exactly on top of the last full tile. Place another tile on top but with its edge touching the wall. Draw along the edge of this tile with a pencil to mark the tile below. Remove the marked tile and cut along the line then glue the cut-off portion of the tile into the gap.
